Just when you thought you couldn’t wait any longer, here are the ultrasound pictures of our little daughter-to-be:
I’ll put the pics up here as soon as I remember to get them from her.
It’s a girl! More info will be posted later tonight.
Due to some weird twist of fate, I managed to find a perfect St Nic’s gift for Clair: a t-shirt with a pregnant samuri schoolgirl on it. On Wednesday night, Mike O. and I went to the Lagoon to see a free screening of Juno. It is a movie about a pregnant teenager who is trying to give her baby up for adoption. It is actually a comedy, a very good one at that. One of the characters gives Juno a comic book about a pregnant superhero named Yuki. After the movie, they handed out t-shirts with Yuki. Classic. If you see Clair soon, be careful when reaching to touch her belly. She might channel Yuki and slice off your hand.

For those of you wondering what it looks like on a residential street in Minneapolis at 11 pm after a snowstorm, here you go.
Clair is starting to feel better. The earlier post was a false alarm. However, now it seems to be sticking. On Friday, we were out until 11:30, and Clair didn’t puke. Small wins, that’s all I hope for. Clair has also informed me that she is feeling the baby move more. During a massage this afternoon, while she was laying on her stomach, Clair felt Baby moving around all over.
The biggest news, however, has yet to come. Next Monday, Clair and I go in for out first ultrasound. Hopefully, the doc will be able to tell us the gender of the little person making Clair feel fat. We’ve already got 4 sets of names picked out. Clair and I have a week to figure out if we are going to tell everyone which names we are picking.
Just for the fun of it, here is a picture of Carolyn Krebs, Chris Moore, and Clair from Chris’ 30th Birthday Party. He thought he could compete with Clair’s belly. He was wrong.
Yesterday, I gained a new role as personal shopper and interior decorator. Clair sent me to Bed Bath and Beyond with a catalog and a few suggestions. It was time to upgrade our bedroom textiles to suit the needs of adults. We no have new bedding, curtains, window treatments, throw pillows, and, the piece de resistance, a body pillow for Clair. She slept better than she has in weeks. I really like the look of the room, although raising the bar in one room (even slightly) makes me want to go through the house and do some damage.
Here is a pic of the new bedding. Clair picked it out.
Clair is almost at week 12. This morning she claimed that she is beginning to feel better. Is it possible that the famed second trimester is starting, and she’ll be feeling energetic and playful again? Please, let it be so. I’ve been doing well trying to comfort her, but I can’t compete with pregnancy hormones.
Also, Clair and I might be participating in the Monster Dash. It is a 5K sponsored by Team Ortho that goes around Lake Harriet. Ten minutes after the 5K starts, the Doggie Dash begins. Clair and Ninja would walk the 5K while I bust my ass to get under 30 min. It would be a good excuse not to get drunk at a Halloween party we’re attending the night before. Plus, we’d get some nice long sleeve t-shirts and Ninja would get a collar. Free stuff is great.
